McCain in Dayton - embarrassing!

Steve Benen, writing at The Washington Monthly, says that McCain will announce the name of the person he's selected to be his vice presidential running mate today, August 29, in Dayton, Ohio. There's no question a lot of people are curious, even interested, in his selection.

Not too many people in Dayton, Ohio give a flip, however.

"Barack Obama can fill a 75,000 seat stadium. John McCain, it seems, is having trouble filling a 10,000 seat theater in Dayton. They're giving away free tickets in several states and plan to bus in supporters. The VP announcement can't be overshadowed by a less-than-capacity crowd."

This gets even more embarrassing when you realize that not only was Mile High Stadium jammed to capacity, but thousands more watched the event from outside of the structure. Moreover, hundreds, if not thousands, stood in New York's Times Square and in the open air in Pasadena, California, and thousands more gathered in private venues to watch Obama accept the nomination of the Democratic Party and listen to inspiring speech.

The lack of interest in McCain in Dayton is a good sign. We can only hope its a harbinger of things to come!

Benen's post is here.

Let us hope so!I wonder why McCain didn't use one of his homes to make his announcement. surely one would be the perfect size to fill so it would look crowded.
Let us hope he loses. He is not ready for prime time. I [refer he goes back to the Senate as a true maverick, so I can go back to liking him again. he can put his five hundred dollar shoes up on his desk and let his anger rise to great heights again.
