Treason is defined in the dictionary as the betrayal of one's country.
How would you describe the governor of Texas castigating the federal government, arguing for states' rights, and implying that if things don't change in Washington, secession may become a real option?
Here's how it went down. Perry spoke at one of those damn tea bag rallies in Austin. According to FAUX News, he said "that officials in Washington have abandoned the country's founding principles of limited government. He said the federal government is strangling Americans with taxation, spending and debt."
"...his U.S. flag-waving audience shouted, 'Secede!'"
How's that for "treason"?
Or, this: When asked if Texas might get so upset they'd want to secede from the union, he said "he sees no reason why Texas should do that."
BUT, then he said "There's a lot of different scenarios. We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it." [He's lying through his teeth! Here comes the rest]: "But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot."
A threat of secession?
Perry is either an idiot of the first magnitude or he's just blowing hot air to fan the masses (which are his base) so he can win another term as governor.
If he is an idiot of the first magnitude, he obviously doesn't know about the Civil War, which did away with the notion of secession. He also isn't aware that the people in Washington who "thumb their nose at the American people" are not Democrats, not Obama's people, but Republicans! He also does not know that this godawful economic mess we are in is primarily the result of Republican blundering. He evidently isn't aware of the fact that Obama's tax plan is not a stranglehold, but provides a tax break for 96 percent of the American people.
Somehow, while I think he is an idiot, I don't think he's so much of an idiot he isn't aware of all of the above!
That makes him stupid and unconscionable! Oh, he's also a born-again Christian!
Glenn Beck was at the Alamo. He thinks, stupid as he is, that the Alamo somehow speaks of American independence. Greta Van Susteren interviewed him standing in front of the icon of Texas tenacity (and dumbness. Remember almost everyone was killed at the Alamo!).
When told that Perry had talked about Texas seceding, Beck said "They just think Texas does America best."
Watch the video as Beck steps into a morass of treasonous bullshit. (Warning: It may make you sick to your stomach!)
I just found this at Pharyngula.

I would have to say that the statements of Perry were treasonous.
Yeh, they all want their independence from the Union....until they need Federal troops on their southern border, or FEMA help with wildfires, or Federal dollars to clean up after a natural disaster.
And here we go again thinking alike. I posted this morning on the idiot Perry.
GE - What can I say about your post? You're at least as smart as I am (probably smarter)!
I doubt that I'm smarter then you Jacob.
You have a college education and used to teach.
I have a High School diploma and have worked in factories most of my life.
But thanks for the compliment anyway.
If there's one thing more offensive and imbecilic than what the Texas governor said, it's calling it "treason". The constitution of the United States defines treason as levying war against the US or giving aid and comfort to its enemies. Speaking your mind on whatever the issue is known as "freedom of speech".
Well, anon, did you see the question mark? And did you read the dictionary definition of treason?
Do you consider advocating secession from the union as ... what?
Have you seen Beck warning of the possibility of making war against the government...pushing the B-grade movie actor for president of Texas...
You're right about freedom of speech...and these clowns can say what they want; I would never take that away from them.
But if what they are saying seems treasonous, then they need to be called on it. They are not the patriots they pretend to be.
We could live without Texas. It would be good for the flag industry to have to make new flags with one less star. Maybe some terrorist Mexican group will start trying to get Texas back. If that happened, I would prefer that Texas be independent and keep the rest of us out of such a conflict. Texans can beat anyone anyway.
