UN proposal to make it a crime to defame Islam

Sometimes, like most every day, it seems the world gets crazier and crazier!

Islamic states are circulating a new U.N. resolution authored by the Palestinians which, according to UN Watch, "would define any questioning of Islamic dogma as a human rights violation, intimidate dissenting voices, and encourage the forced imposition of Sharia law."

While the resolution is entitled "Combating defamation of religions," it refers only to Islam.


Quite frankly, this is bullshit. Religion is the cause of most of the war, evil and suffering on this earth and always has been. Islam is one of the worst religions with a penchant for violence yet to be exceeded in today's world. We don't need a resolution against defaming religion, we need a resolution urging criticism of religion, in particular Islam!


UN Watch has this to say:

"While non-binding, the resolution constitutes a dangerous threat to free speech everywhere. It would ban any perceived offense to Islamic sensitivities as a 'serious affront to human dignity' and a violation of religious freedom, and would pressure U.N. member states -- at the 'local, national, regional and international levels' -- to erode free speech guarantees in their 'legal and constitutional systems.'"

My view is that not only does this constitute "a dangerous threat to free speech everywhere," is is stupid and idiotic and should be laughed out of existence. It is so transparent an attempt to impose Islamic sensibilities on the rest of the world that it cannot possibly be taken seriously.

Just like the Christianist fundys in this country, these crazy Islamists think that freedom of religion means that their religion takes precedence and should have special privileges.


What we need in this world is less religion and more criticism of religion! The United States and other free countries not under the thumb of the Islamic wackos, need to say "Go to hell with your damn resolution!"

This is just another example as to how Islamists around the world, when they get a little power, try to bend everyone to their will and force the majority to kiss their religious asses.
