How not to fly an airplane

I don't know where this originated, but it is soooo funny! It might even be "insulting to Muslims." Oh, well. ...

Just last week, this brand new Airbus 340-600 [see photo] ... with zero air miles, and costing $300 million US dollars, one of the largest passenger airplane[s] ever built ... was sitting in its hanger in Toulouse, France.

A seven-member Arab flight crew from Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) arrived to conduct pre-delivery tests on the ground, such as engine run-ups, prior to delivering the aircraft to Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi.

The ADAT crew taxied the plane to the landing strip where they proceeded to throttle all four engines to maximum power, which is NOT a very bright idea. Not having read the operations manual, the crew had no clue just how light an empty A340-600 really is. The takeoff warning horn started blaring away in the cockpit because these witless wonders had all four engines at full throttle. The computers thought they were trying to take off but the aircraft prevented that because the flaps and slats were not in their proper position to allow to a safe lift-off.

One of this quick-witted ADAT crew decided to pull the circuit breaker on the Ground Proximity Sensor, thus silencing the annoying alarm. This, too, was NOT a good idea as it caused the aircraft to conclude it was already airborne and possibly about to land!

As a result, the computers automatically released all brakes which sent the aircraft rocketing forward. The ADAT crew had no idea that this is a design-safety feature preventing pilots from landing the aircraft with brakes applied.

None of these brainless twits thought to throttle back the engines from their max power setting, which resulted in the $300 million A340-600 crashing, head first, a mile down the road, into a blast barrier.

The aircraft was totaled.

According to my sources, this story has been the subject of a news blackout in France because the story was considered to be too insulting to Muslims.

Heh. Heh.

What's even more interesting is that if you Google this story, you'll get several variations...none of which fit the photos of the plane crashing into the wall!
