Distributor Cap NY has written an excellent article, in his usual poignant and pithy style, dealing with the GOP, conservative ideology, and socialism within the context of their development in our country.
Here's a taste: "... since the Conservative ideology espoused by Reagan-Gingrich-Bush II ... has pretty much run its course, ... the right has decided that the vilification and derision of 'liberals' isn't working out that well anymore. ...
"Always needing an enemy to justify their existence, the right wing punditry (which for all intents and purposes consists of Coulter, Hannity, Malkin, O'Reilly, Monica Crowley, drug-infested Rush and [] several other deranged douchebags) has decided to abandon[] political ideology as their hub of contempt, and now embrace economic theories that are not Conservative-endorsed as the new pariah. In the delusional minds of the GOP - Socialists, the S-word, is the current bogeyman." ...
"This of course is laughable. We have had one form or another of a Socialist style government and/or economy since 1789, but why let the facts get in the way of a good belittling. But this [is] America - land of the free gullible. Since the Republican leaders have shown they are devoid of any ideas other than meanness and evil, you can expect no less. ...
"By continuing to insist that any deviance off the stairway to Capitalist Heaven will mean impending doom (doom for them that is), the Conservatives and Republicans have out-and-out rejected the premise that ALL Americans deserve such basic things as a living wage, a good education, accessible and affordable health care and the ability to see their children grow up and succeed."
There's so much more...you'll want to read it all here.

We get what we deserve, always, as long as people vote for representatives. That is our system and should not be changed. We should work on better education, better media coverage with better explanations of terminology and better coverage of alternatives. There is room for disagreements that is how we learn. All the shouting gets us nowhere. The blatant propaganda from all sides is not helpful. The lies should be revealed by the press, not repeated as news or facts. The political figures with nothing but personality are common. They should answer the tough questions, that is how we learn. Review how Hitler, Stalin, Kol Pot, etc came to power. We have had our dunderheads too and have been lucky, so far, that a dictator hasn’t taken over. It can happen here! It takes time for our checks and balances to disappear. Many did over the past eight years and might again. Obama can issue Signing Statements; ignore laws, uses politics to fill jobs instead of seeking talent. The precedents are there and any president can use the same methods if he has a solid majority in both Houses of Congress! If there is no investigation and ironclad rules to prevent it from continuing, what is to stop the abuses from continuing?
