Is There An Eavesdropper in the House?

In Washington, D.C. the House of Representatives, under the leadership of Nancy Pelosi, met late at night behind closed doors.

The House planned to debate "classified intelligence gathering" before they voted on a "warrantless eavesdropping bill."

So, they met in secret. The first time in 25 years.

The Bushites wanted the House to accept the Senate's bill. That's because the Senate has too many spineless members who obeyed Bush and agreed to exempt from lawsuits the telecom companies that cooperated with Bush in his illegal eavesdropping.

Isn't it fascinating that the House felt they had to meet secretly, behind closed doors, to consider a bill to allow the prez and his cronies to illegally eavesdrop on American citizens?

Were they afraid someone would eavesdrop on them?

They should have been. It's likely that every "security" agency in the U.S. government heard every word that was said. There were probably more secret microphones hidden in the halls of Congress than there are secret sexual shenanigans of the Congresspersons.

Bush said if the House doesn't do what he wants, he'll veto the bill. Sadly, I don't think there are enough House members who believe in the Constitution to override his veto.

Update: The House passed the bill and Bush has pen in hand to veto it. Of course, it was just as we thought; everybody in Washington knew the bill had passed before Bush did. They were eavesdropping without warrants!
