No justice says attorney general Mukasey

The crony apppointed by Georgi W. Buski to be Attorney General of the United States, Michael Mukasey, said his Justice Department will not seek justice in the so-called "hiring scandal" perpetrated by his Justice Department.

The facts are quite clear. Under the former Attorney General, another Bush crony, Alberto Gonzales, top advisers in the Justice Department routinely discriminated against applicants who failed to exhibit proper "conservative" credential and pledge fealty to King Buski.

That behavior is illegal! It is in violation of civil service laws (as well as the policy of the DOJ) to "hire career employees on the basis of political affiliation or allegiance."

Again, there is no question that "career employees" were hired or not hired specifically on the basis of their political affiliation and allegiance. Monica Goodling, one of Gonzales' cronies, actually asked applicants why they wanted to work for George Bush.

Mukasey says this is no big deal. Just a couple minor laws violated. But, he told the American Bar Association, if we find illegalities, we'll "hold any wrongdoers accountable."

Mukasey, like all the other Bush cronies, is full of shit. Or, as Patrick Leahy, chair of the Senate Judiciary Committe, said, Mukasey "seems intent on insulating this administration from accountability."

Of course he is. That's why Bush appointed him. The question is, why did the Senate confirm that appointment?

The problem with the hiring of people based on their politics is that many were sent to Iraq to help rebuild the country, run the affairs etc. We have lost over 4,000 American soldiers and over 40,000 wounded and maimed, due to inefficiency, lack of supplies, corruption etc. Many victims were harmed by hiring the wrong people. I find it sad that none will be punished for violating the rules re hiring. Lives were lost. War is dangerous at best. Running a war based on anything less that the very best available is worse than criminal. I wish heavy duty jail time was the reward for not doing the very best to equip our troops. Mistakes that lead to death cannot be forgiven. Regardless of how or why we went to war, there is no excuse for allowing lives to be wasted over politics! I can not accept that our Veteran’s Organizations have not marched on Washington to protest such goings on. Kids are still being killed due to inefficient and inexperienced people making decisions that affect lives during war. There are no excuses for such things. Tell the families of those killed how this happened and why! Explain it to the hospitalized and newly disabled.
