Impeachment, anyone?

Let's begin with Dick Cheney. Our vice president is doubtless guilty of many crimes -- lying to the American people, for one -- but the fact that he and his "aides" actually considered cooking up a phony scheme to justify war with Iran is beyond the pale.

At a meeting designed to concoct a plausible excuse (one the American public would buy) to attack Iran, Cheney and company discussed reconfiguring U.S. Navy boats to appear like Iranian boats. They would then load these "Iranian" boats with Navy Seals which would then attack American ships.

The plan was torpedoed, so to speak, because of the fact that Americans were sure to die. Not that American deaths bother Cheney very much, but if the plan were ever made public, there would be some hard explaining to do.

George W. Bush, Cheney's go-to guy, not so long ago, tried to put together his own plan to help gain the support of the American people for his pre-emptive, illegal attack on Iraq. George and friends ordered the CIA to prepare a letter confirming Saddam's possession of WMD. Such a letter was thought necessary, of course, because Bush could never find any WMD, and he had sworn over and over again to the voters that Saddam was stockpilings WMD to attack the US of A.

Hello, Nancy Pelosi? What does it take these days to get lying politicians impeached? A BJ in the Oval Office?

There is no chance that there will be an impeachment proceeding! It would never get enough votes as long as enough Congressmen put party over country. It is obvious that many are not concerned with some of the terrible things that have been done over the past eight years, to our system. If the Democrats win a large enough majority, we might learn to regret that our representatives allowed these things to happen. Let us imagine Obama deciding that he can make his own rules and refuse to allow any committee to investigate anything he decides should not be investigated. (McCain wants to keep the status quo, so we already know what he will do or not do). Remember that any President can pardon anyone, for anything, even if no charges have been leveled! That is where loyalty to party has taken us since Newt Gingrich made the rules twelve years ago. I trust some of the readers will be worried but others still do not understand how the rules and laws have been ignored. It should be an interesting four years ahead of us when Bush’s reign as King is over.
