Master of Science degree in "creationism" - only in Texas!

Shore enuf, pardner! Y'all might soon be able to git a Master's degree in creation science if'n State Rep. Leo Berman (R-Tyler) has his way.

Berman, a Republican wingnut, "proposed House Bill 2800 when he learned that The Institute for Creation Research (ICR), a private institution that specializes in the education and research of biblical creationism, was not able to receive a certificate of authority from Texas' Higher Education Coordinating Board to grant Master of Science degrees.

"Berman's bill would allow private, non-profit educational institutions to be exempt from the board's authority."

Heh. Heh. As they say, so often, "only in Texas!"

Berman provides another good reason why control of education and education standards should be removed from moronic dimwits who operate with pea-sized brains and somehow get elected to state legislatures!

Hemant Mehta had a few thoughts about this proposal:

1. There's nothing Scientific or "Masterful" about Creationism.

2. Get ready for three word Masters Theses: "God did it."

3. You thought your Bachelors degree in Communications was useless...?

4. At least the textbook cost would be low. You'd only need one book the whole time you're working on your degree.

The bill probably won't pass. Perhaps Berman could be recalled on the condition that he's too much of an idiot to serve in the legislature - even for Texas.

Once again: Creationism is not science; it is religious superstition! Anyone or any group teaching creationism should not be provided recognition, but should be scoffed at and scorned.

It could pass regardless of merit or facts. God works in mysterious ways to allow some to prosper in spite of ignorance or worth,
