Palin scares the hell out of Ed Koch

Ed Koch, the erstwhile former mayor of a "cosmopolitan" city, New York, has always spoken his mind and gone his own way. Although he was elected for three terms as a Democratic mayor, Koch has broken with his party on several occasions.

Keith B. Richburg, writing at The Trail for the Washington Post, says that "from 1977 to 1989, Koch has frequently crossed party lines to endorse Republicans, including former mayor Rudy Giuliani, Mayor Michael Bloomberg (who switched to become an Independent), and former Gov. George Pataki."

Koch is not jumping to the Repugs this year!

"She scares the hell out of me," said Koch in a telephone interview, and he referred to Palin's attempt to censor books in the Wasilla public library. Koch believes "'the country is safer in the hand of Barack Obama." And to protect the United States, continued the former mayor, also means "'defending the public with respect to their civil rights, civil liberties and other needs,' including gay rights and abortion rights."

Not only so, but because Sarah Palin scares the hell out of him, Koch is planning to campaign for Obama this fall. "I'll do whatever they want me to do."

I hope Ed realizes that Sarah Palin scares the hell out of a lot of people.

Someday they will allow her to be interviewed and questioned by reporters, but not yet. She is kept away from reporters, so I guess McCaine does not think she is ready either.
