John Boehner - the Democratic budget - "Imprisoning our Kids and Grandkids"

By Heather:

From The Newshour with Jim Lehrer April 2, 2009. John Boehner is suddenly now concerned about fiscal responsibility with his criticism of the Democratic budget. Never mind the debt that was run up under the Bush administration for things like invading other countries that weren't a threat to us and war profiteering. Never mind tax cuts that never trickle down and enrich those at the top. Now that the spending is needed to keep our country out of a depression, Boehner is concerned about the debt being left to future generations. His talk about bi-partisanship after the way he and his fellow Republicans ran the House of Representatives is also laughable.

Now Boner feels like the Rethuglicans spent too much the last eight years. Why didn't he speak up during that time? Oh, that's right, they were more concerned with helping those poor wealthy folks and lining the pockets of the military industrial complex that Dwight Eisenhower warned the nation about.

He wants even more tax cuts for the wealthy, another failed policy left over from the Reign of St. Ronnie.

He says the Democrats don't want bi-partisanship which is a lie. The Rethuglicans were offered bi-partisanship by Obama before he took office and they refused because it would mean that they would have to come up with something new. They knew their failed ideas would not be accepted.

Sometimes it is necessary to buy our way out of trouble, in the hopes that if it succeeds, we will be able to pay it back. It is the reason there are loans and credit. If we do nothing and fail, we have no resources to build.

Until someone comes up with a better plan that can be implemented NOW, we must proceed. The plan can be adjusted, if needed.
