At Talk 2 Action, wilkyjr offers his 10 favorite conspiracy theories of the Religious Right.
The first derives from Matt Taibbi's book, "The Great Derangement," where Matt mentions a theory heard in the precincts of Hagee's Cornerstone Church in San Antonio and promoted by Hagee's son: Al Gore is working secretly with people involved in global warming to take over the United States.
Things go downhill from there.
For example, the number 2 conspiracy theory in wilkyjr's list is the promoted by Texe Marrs of Texas. Marrs believes that Hillary Clinton was worked secretly with Janet Reno to form a lesbian plot to destroy Christianity.
The late, not-so-great Jerry Falwell gets into the act, also, with his notion that Satan was behind the 1954 Supreme Court decision to outlaw segregation in the public schools. Falwell, you'll recall, was the bozo who promoted the idea that the Clintons "took out" Ron Brown and Vince Foster.
Christian reconstructionist, Gary North, once wrote a whole book claiming the Bible said that the Council of Foreign Relations elected Franklin Delano Roosevelt and sent money to help both Vladimir Lenin and Adolf Hitler initiate their despicable reigns of terror.
Wilkyjr's favorite theory is Number 10. This has to do with a book by a Robert Snow on Christian militias. Snow said that many of these "militias believed that on the back of a 1993 box of Kix Cereal was a map teaching children about how the U.N. will divide up the United States."
And so it goes in the Kingdom of the Wingnuts. What's really frightening is that these conspiracy theories are not dissimilar to the "letters tot he editor" in our local newspaper. The future does not look too hopeful, folks!

These guys keep coming up with new theories, as the old ones never prove to be true. By now, the world would have been destroyed and the US would not be here if any of them had been right. It is remarkable that so many people forget the old theories and accept equally stupid new ones. Could you imagine Hitler or Stalin or any king allowing such nonsense if they had the power to silence their enemies? Some of these people are very brave to keep publicly talking out. One would think they would be afraid to identify themselves or be seen in public.
