You would think that the Attorney General of the United States would uphold the law he was sworn to uphold.
But this is Bushdom where everything is turned on its head.
The United States House of Representatives voted to cite White House Chief of Staff, Josh Bolten, and former presidential counsel Harriet Miers, for contempt of Congress because they ignored subpoenas to provide Congress with White House documents or testify about the firings of federal prosecutors.
Most people, when they're issued a subpoena, comply immediately so they don't get into even more trouble. Subpoenas are meant to be obeyed, even if the one being subpoenaed is guilty of nothing. Try this: the next time you get a subpoena, toss it in the trash. See what happens to you!
Not if you're a player in Bushdom.
Bolten and Miers thumbed their respective noses at the Congress of the United States.
What should happen now, under normal circumstances, is that the Attorney General of the United States refers these contempt citations to a Grand Jury.
The Attorney General of the United States, who is a fawning supplicant of King George, has refused. In a letter to Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, Attorney General Michael Mukasey, [see photo above] wrote that "The department will not bring the congressional contempt citations before a grand jury or take any other action to prosecute Mr. Bolten or Ms. Miers."
What do you do when the man in charge of enforcing the laws of the land refuses to obey the law of the land himself?
Well, you do what Ms. Pelosi did - file a civil lawsuit against Bolten and Meirs in federal court. "The American people demand that we uphold the law," she said.
Why would Mukasey refuse to do his job? Because King George told him to. As the Democrats say, Bush's instructions are an abuse of power, designed to block any effort to determine whether the White House ordered the firing of nine U.S. attorneys in 2006 for political reasons.
Well, hell. Of course the White House fired them for political reasons! This White House does everything for political reasons!
John Conyers, D-Mich., Chair of the Judiciary Committee, said that the White House "will go to any lengths to keep its role in the U.S. attorney firings hidden. In the face of such extraordinary actions, we have no choice but to proceed with a lawsuit to enforce the committee's subpoenas."
Finally! For seven years King George has flaunted the law. For seven years, he has made a mockery of our justice system. For seven years, he has ruled as if he was royalty without restriction. For seven years, he has been aided and abetted in this regal sham by the Republican Party which has consistently been more concerned with staying in power than living up to its obligations under the Constitution of the United States.
Finally! May this be the first of many such lawsuits to strip the crown from George's head!

Is there a way to fat track this?
Is there a way to fire the new Attornye General for not doing his job?
This is a disgrace. Bring back Janet Reno, now!
