Senate Republicans fail the nation

(Photo of the U.S. Senate)

On Friday, June 6, Senate Republicans were able to "block" a global warming bill that intended to dramatically reduce greenhouse gasses, arguing that it cost too much.  It would raise gasoline and other energy prices, complained these Republican nogoodnicks.

Democrats needed to get a total of 60 votes to end a Republican filibuster.  The most they could scrabble together was 48.  Majority Leader Harry Reid will no doubt pull the bill which means nothing will be done relative to this major world problem until at least next year and the next Congress.

Typical.

Today, June 10, Senate Republicans have again blocked legislation which would bring tax relief to millions of Americans as well as provided incentives for the development of renewable energy.

Parents, teachers and businesses would have received some $50 billion in tax breaks but Republicans objected because the revenue to pay for it would have come from the closing of loopholes allowing corporations to defer tax payments on money earned overseas.

Typical.

Does the Republican Party really hate America?  Or does it just love corporations more?

We have a broken system! They do not even wnat to debate the issues even though we have months before a new administration takes over. they should be ashamed of themselves. They put party over the nation. That is shameful.
