I have that book True Believer! Its an excellent read. Much of what Blumenthal is saying, I have said similar things, but more than likely, He is going to be able to provide a lot more research to back his observations up, that and he had access to their conventions, traveling and interviews, that I as a SAHM would not be able to pull off for a variety of reasons. Rushdoony is a nutter. And yes, this movement are the spiritual descendents of Rushdoony. I have actually heard Pat Robertson preach that Rushdoony-take on Leviticus. You should really look to the Stealth Campaign in the 80s.
Abortion is the issue that was able to drive a wedge between what might have been an enormous progressive movement. 50 percent of the population roughly are women. And with the issue of Abortion and all its been equated to, has not only split the women's movement, but also placed conditions on which men will support women if at all. The only other wedge that was powerful enough to split the movement was Race {see Suffragette Movement} prior to 1st and 2nd wave. Its all divide and conquer.
Anyhow interesting book.
