Einstein and God

For years I have read Christian Right material that claims Albert Einstein was either a closet-Christian, or became a Christian on his death-bed, or at least believed in a god who created the universe.

This material lacked evidence for its claims, but the lack of evidence never has had affected what the Christian Right says or does.

Well, here's some evidence. But the Christian Right ain't gonna like it.

In January 1954, a year before he died, Einstein wrote a letter (in his own hand) to Eric Gutkind, a philosopher. In this letter, Einstein commented relative to his belief in God and the Bible:

"...the word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish."

So much for Einstein's religious views.

The letter sold at a London auction for $404,000.

"My God," said God.

Einstein identified himself always as a Jew regardless of his lack of religious belief. So did Hitler and those that accepted his anti Semitism.
Approximately 65% of Jews are secular. It creates a problem for the Ministers. Priests, etc that are anti Semites. They have to believe in the ability of blood to define their enemies. It’s hard to find a religious basis for so much crap against Jews, as the Old Testament of the Bible is the basis for the Jewish religion. When good Christians burn the Torah, they are burning the sacred words they supposedly believe in. Jesus certainly did but he was a learned Jew.
Anti Semitism indicates gross ignorance but most people are not terribly smart, regardless of their religion.
