Chris Hedges Characterizes Our Present Situation: We are being ruled by idiots

Chris Hedges, writing for Truthdig, says we're experiencing a "reign of idiots," and the chief idiot is Donald J. Trump.

The article begins thusly:

The idiots take over in the final days of crumbling civilizations. Idiot generals wage endless, unwinnable wars that bankrupt the nation. Idiot economists call for reducing taxes for the rich and cutting social service programs for the poor, and project economic growth on the basis of myth. Idiot industrialists poison the water, the soil and the air, slash jobs and depress wages. Idiot bankers gamble on self-created financial bubbles and impose crippling debt peonage on the citizens. Idiot journalists and public intellectuals pretend despotism is democracy. Idiot intelligence operatives orchestrate the overthrow of foreign governments to create lawless enclaves that give rise to enraged fanatics. Idiot professors, “experts” and “specialists” busy themselves with unintelligible jargon and arcane theory that buttresses the policies of the rulers. Idiot entertainers and producers create lurid spectacles of sex, gore and fantasy.

I couldn't have said it better, but you need to read his entire article to understand all of the complications and implications of the "reign of idiots."

And the idiot's supporters go on and on about anyone who criticizes him as "ignorant" or "unable to grasp facts." And they wonder why rational people start treating them with contempt.

Their existence is an insult to the progress of humanity.

I agree And loved the portrait of the ugly baby. I am terribly worried when I consider the numbers of those voting for him, listening and still thinking he needs more time.

There is little in his history that indicates that he is a thinking man. He works off his gut and his feelings. Facts seem to bore him, or perhaps are beyond his comprehension. It indicates q person that should not be in a position of power affecting other's lives or well-being. HE IS DOING REAL DAMAGE AND COULD DAMAGE US FOR YEARS OR LEAD TO A WAR, BASED ON HIS DESIRE TO ALWAYS BGE RIGHT AND TO WIN ALL ARGUMENTS.

He did win the election! And the power If Congress and our laws do not take action, he remains free a dangerous person.

I doubt if he will ever resign. As far as I know, that leaves only Impeachment and that will become a political game of sorts, because those that do put Party over all other considerations seems to be the rule at the moment. The media did not do its job well from the beginning, because it did sell papers.
Where have we gone wrong as a nation and how can that be corrected in time to get back on a better track? I hope it is not too late to change things.
