I would add it exemplifies not only disrespect but her ignorance. And perversity. What is important to Palin and so many other christianist rightwingnuts is not our Constitution but power - the power to remake our country into their own very sick, self-righteous, godforsaken image.

Unfortunately, she represents the unthinking, unknowing that exists in every culture. If we do not understand our own values, we cannot value them. We like to think we all value truth, helping others, etc. but most live in their own small world of family, neighbors, friends etc. We think others are different and not like us. It is why we are able to se our next door neighbor in need of help but not the guy that lives ten blocks away.
She appeals to people that are always afraid that someone wants to take away whatever they have or are preventing them form getting whatever it is they want. The illegals take away a job no one wants, so they get upset. They took their country away. They do not contribute etc. Everyone is doing something to harm them, so Palin shouts out and they listen and believe/
That will never change! That seems to be human nature.
I think we give her too much PR. We are creating her in a new image and insisting that the masses love her. Soon they will. She will make a fortune, become some kind of cult figure and eventually no one will remember how she got there. Look at Ollie North, who has become a hero, instead of the person he actually is or was.
You sure got it right, Bob. And your comment re: Oliver North is on target, too. People seem to forget he is a sneaky, lying christainist criminal.
