Prominent Christianist Wingnut Senator Vitter and Jesus

The trouble with being a prominent Christianist asshole hypocrite is that you can easily get bitten in the ass by doing something stupid; by forgetting, in any given situation, to ask "What would Jesus do?"

This story is all over the Net, yet I have to say something 'cause Vitter is perfect fodder for my snarky sarcasm machine; a machine that loves to chew up Christianist hypocrites and spew them out.

It went down like this, more or less: Vitter made his way to Dulles Airport in Washington, D.C., where the elite hang out, to catch a flight to New Orleans (he's from Louisiana, you know). But he was late and the door at the gate had been closed for 20 minutes.

Well, Vitter, is a Christianist senator from Louisiana. He can do anything. He can lie, and he can fly. So, he just went through the door, which set off a security alarm.

Normal people, in a situation like that, would probably say, "Uh, oh. I screwed up!" And, being confronted by an airline employee in a restricted area would be very embarrassing and a normal person would probably say further, "Oops. I'm so sorry. Show me the way to go home and I'll never do this again. Just don't put me in jail for ten years! Please?"

But Vitter, as I said, is a Jesus lover from Louisiana. Oh, he also loves prostitutes or he used to love prostitutes, but Jesus has forgiven him so he really loves Jesus even more now.

According to The Raw Story, when confronted by an airline employee, David Vitter, ex-lover of prostitutes and true Jesus lover, failed to ask what Jesus would do (thereby, like Peter, denying his Lord in public) and "proceed to dress down" said airline employee "who told him entering the restricted area was forbidden." Now Vitter, being a U.S. SENATOR -- which is bad enough -- but a Repugnican U.S. SENATOR, which I think is part of the axis of evil, "invoked his standing as a senator, delivering a 'do-you-know-who-I-am' tirade."

Heh. Heh.

"The airline worker then announced he was going to summon security. [So much for trying to scare the worker with 'I am David Vitter, prestigious senator from Louisiana'" bit.]

"'Vitter, according to the witness, remained defiant, yelling that the employee could call the police if he wanted to and their supervisors, who, presumably, might be more impressed with his Senator's [..] pin ... But after talking a huffy big game, Vitter apparently though better of pushing the confrontation any further. When the gate attendant left to find a security guard, Vitter turned tail and simply fled the scene.'"

You might be interested in what Vitter has to say. "After being delayed on the Senate floor ensuring a vote on my anti-pay-raise amendment and in a rush to make my flight home for town hall meetings the next day, I accidentally went through a wrong door at the gate. I did have a conversation with an airline employee, but it was certainly not like this silly gossip column made it out to be."

Ah, David, David! Denying your Lord twice! Such a shame.

[Notice the egotistic self-promotion in his "explanation" - he just had to vote on an "anti-pay-raise amendment," and he just had to rush home for town hall meetings, and he "accidentally went through a wrong door at the gate."]

Just what was it like, David?

What a wonderful guy! What a true Jesus lover!

And I'm sure everyone reading this rant will remember clearly just how easy it is to "accidentally" go through a wrong door at a airplane gate.

Heh. Heh.

The people of Louisiana should be very proud of this Repugnican, evangelical christianist, nogoodnik wingnut!

Fly, fly, flee away home, David! But God's gonna get you!

David Vitter, hypocrite extraordinaire

David Vitter, the prostitute-loving Jesus freak senator from Louisiana, has called for Sen. Roland Burris, a Democratic senator from Illinois, to quit the Senate and go back to Illinois because Burris has shown he is ethically challenged.

But Vitter, the Jesus freak who loves prostitutes and senator from Louisiana, doesn't see any connection between his behavior and Burris' behavior. "I honestly don't know anybody who would compare these situations," said Vitter. "They are completely different."

Sheesh!

Oh, that's right. Vitter refused to resign his seat after his sexual escapades came to light because Jesus had forgiven him and his wife had forgiven him and he would never do it again, honest.

Americablog quotes The Hill: "I do have to laugh that the Republicans keep letting David 'I'm a married family-values Republican who paid multiple whores for sex repeatedly behind my wife's back' Vitter take the lead on ethical issues. Are they nuts? Is he? We're happy to keep writing about David Vitter committing adultery while frequenting prostitutes and then telling other people how to live their lives. Keep it coming Senator Vitter (no pun intended)."

Voters against Clinton

Ninety-four senators voted to confirm Senator Hillary Clinton as our new Secretary of State. Two senators were opposed.

It is possible that two of 96 senators were so convinced that Hillary Clinton would be a really bad Secretary of State that they could not in good conscience vote for her confirmation. It is possible that two of 96 senators were feeling their ethical oats and instead of going along with the crowd, stood on principle and voted no.

But then we learn who those two senators were: Jim DeMint of South Carolina, and David Vitter of Louisiana.

I have written on several occasions about Jim DeMint and David Vitter and those articles can be accessed by simply typing their names in the "Search" bar on the right side of the blog.

Perhaps the most important DeMint article is here, and the most important Vitter articles is here.

Suffice it to say that neither of these two nogoodniks worry much about ethics or morals. Their negative votes on Clinton's confirmation had nothing to do with principle. DeMint, known better as the Candy Man, deplores the lack of religious values in our country. Vitter is best known for his adulation and thus, solicitation, of prostitutes (but God and his wife have forgiven him).

Neither of these men voted negatively on Clinton because they were trying to do what they believed the "right" thing. Their votes were carefully calculated political maneuvers pandering the the rightwing fruitcakes in their respective districts. They are soon up for re-election.

It is so wonderful, though, to know that unlike past years, people like da Candy Man and Vitter are out of power and huff and puff though they may, they cannot blow down the house of Obama and the people.

More on Jim DeMint here.

Senator David Vitter stands alone

Yesterday, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted by a margin of 16-1 to approve Hillary Clinton's nomination as Secretary of State.

The only member of the committee to vote against the confirmation was David Vitter, a Regugnican from Louisiana.

It's too bad, because by all accounts, Vitter should have resigned from the Senate long ago for his reprehensible and immoral behavior.

But Vitter, being a true christianist, is also a hypocrite of immense proportions. Vitter's life has been largely a pretense. Calling for Clinton to resign in 1998 because of his dalliance with Monica Lewinski, Vitter himself has been a longtime customer of prostitutes, both in New Orleans and in D.C.

On July 9, 2007, Vitter apologized when it was revealed he was a customer of Pamela Martin and Associates, a prostitution business dressed as an escort service. Vitter, caught with his metaphorical pants down, said "This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible."

And then, "Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling..."

Yeah...but there's also the matter of his long-term affair with a New Orlean's prostitute. Vitter claimed he never did such a thing.

Of course not. I mean he's a lector at his Catholic church, for god's sake!

But Wendy Cortez, the pros, and photos show he's a liar.

Then there's the business of the Deborah Jane Palfrey's (the D.C. madam) suicide on May 1, 2008 in Florida. Or perhaps her murder.

Unfortunately, Vitter, self-righteous asshat that he is, hangs on to continue to cause trouble. On the very first day of the 111th Congress, Senator Asshat dumped 34 bills and resolutions in the hopper, an action certain to clog things up.

Vitter is planning to run again in 2010. Thus all these bills and resolutions. He staking his claim to his christianist rightwing fundy wingnut position, hoping to garner the votes of all the folks of the freaky right.

The bills and resolutions are all about ... well, guess. Yup. Abortion - he's agin' it; public prayer - he's for it; stem cell research - nope!; home schooling - yup!; drugs - against; death penalty - for; illegal immigration - against; protecting the American flag - for.

Democrats think Vitter may be vulnerable in 2010. It would be wonderful to move this rightwing creepo from the Senate.

We can always hope.
