Keystone XL Pipeline

The Pipeline was narrowly defeated in the Senate.  Thankfully, Bill Nelson, one of Florida's senators voted against the pipeline.  But...the battle isn't over.  When it comes up again, which is inevitable, the Republicans will hold the majority in the Senate.  Then we can only hope Mr. Obama will wield his veto pen!

I wonder if it is possible to get an open-ended insurance policy re damages to property, income, homes, lives, health etc due to any damage caused by an oil spill. So far the litigations seems to take a very long time and is very expensive for most victims. If the oil is safe and economically worthy, those that profit must be held 100% responsible over a very long-term for any damages to the people property and areas affected by a spill, explosion or any other mishap.

As long as the reasonable possible damage can occur, the areas affected should be restored to the staus quo before the damage occurs.

I can only imagine the shrugs and oh wells coming from the GOP when the inevitable foul-up happens if it does get approved down the line.
