My thanks to good friend, Bob Poris, for letting me in on this good bit of news!According to an article by Ron Kampeas at JTA, "The Obama administration has decided to boycott the so-called Durban II conference out of concerns for anti-Semitism. ...
"The conference reprises the 2001 conference in Durban, South Africa that devolved into an anti-Jewish free-for-all. Canada and Israel have opted not to attend the conference ...
"Preparations for a draft document so far have seen Iran leading a coterie of nations blocking inclusion of anything that might guarantee Jewish protections -- including mention of the Holocaust -- while inserting draconian language guarding Islam against 'insult.'"
A U.S. delegation sent to the preparatory talks concluded that the U.S. should not participate in that "the anti-Israel and anti-Western tendencies were too deeply entrenched to excise."
It appears that other European nations may follow the lead of the U.S. and pull out of the conference, too.
Yeah!
Here's what Mr. Poris has to say:
"Hooray for Obama! It's well past time to confront the Durban anti-Semites. There will never be peace until acceptance of Jews and a Jewish state is universal.
"If the world accepts Islamic states, Islamic states must accept Jewish and non-Islamic states. If not, we will eventually see a new religious world war. Christians in Muslim lands are discriminated against, just as the Jews had been before they were killed or expelled.
"It never fails: first the Jews then another minority! It has happened in Iraq and throughout the Arab world, including the Westbank areas.
"If the Holocaust taught us anything, it is that genocide is still alive and well."

Thanks for reporting on the Durban conference. As long as the democratic states remain silent, we face religious wars. Everyone condemned Israel for responding to the daily rockets of Hamas from Gaza into Israel, but NO ONE suggested what Israel should do in response to over six thousand rockets and mortars directed against civilian centers, schools, hospitals, etc. I repeat NO ONE! So far, Hamas has not been condemned for using civilian homes, mosques, hospitals and schools as launching pads for rockets to be used against innocent civilians.
What would any nation do under similar circumstances? Israel has been under attack since its birth in 1948. That predates any occupation of any lands outside the borders set by the UN when it approved the partition of the British Mandate. The west bank was occupied after the 1967 war. There was no excuse for the attacks by Arab nations with no common borders other than not approving of a Jewish state in areas where Jews predated Islam by many centuries. The census of 1900 showed the overwhelming majority in Jerusalem were Jews! Islam was not created until the seventh century and that was far away in Mecca.
There was no excuse, except the ideology of Hitler that was approved of and accepted by Arab leaders. It still is now in 2009 long after the end of World War Two should have put an end to such nonsense that goes against the basic laws of almost all religions, including Islam.
At the end of World War 2 the British administered the Palestinian Protectorate. British soldiers and diplomats were bombed and shot by terrorist groups known as Zionists. After six years of war the British had no stomach for a war with Jewish settlers and pulled out.
The establishment of Israel in 1949 removed Palestine from the map and Israel continues to deny Palestines right to exist. At the end of WW11 none of the Axis nations lost their country but the Palestinians did. The Palestinians living in the new state of Israel were driven into refugee camps in the surrounding countries. Since then the Palestinians have been systematically attacked and starved by the Israelis with the help of United States money and weapons.
Staving 1.5 million people of food medicine and power, denying them nationhood and killing over 100 people for every one Israeli is not and eye for an eye, it is ethnic cleansing.
Israel has the backing of the military might of the United States. It could use this might to establish a Palestinian state. Instead Israel provokes the Palestinians by ignoring UN resolutions and International Law. It has been demonstrated many times that where ther is injustice there will not be peace. It is time that Israel and the US recognized the injustice done to the Palestinians and did what's right and establish a Palestinian state.
As for the legitimacy of the Israeli state, if you want to know if terrorism works you only have to look at Israel. It is too late to argue about it now but even the Israelis know they stole that land from the Palestinians by force, it is time the Palestinians were compensated.
