We finally have a Secretary of Labor who cares about working people, people who actually labor for a living!Hilda Solis was finally confirmed as Secretary of Labor - and by a good margin - 80 - 17.
Elaine Chao, as you recall, the wife of GOP Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell, is gone, thank god! Chao, a Bush crony, with no qualifications, didn't much care for working people -- their problems or their needs.
McConnell had threatened to filibuster Solis' nomination, but evidently thought better of it and allowed the nomination to go to a vote.
As Joe Sudbay says at Americablog, "This is a huge victory for progressives and, especially for working men and women. They'll have a Secretary who is on their side."
