I call the Right Wing, the Reich Wing. I don't feel bad about it a bit. Its well documented that this current incarnation of the GOP, has actual ties to modern day Nazis, NeoNazis and other extremist and supremacists groups. I believe that their usage of Naziism is simply a form of Projection. That these are the characteristics of their own movement that they failed to, or avoided scrutinizing, and that they feel compelled to project these extremely negative, but very real characteristics on their opponents.
If the Democrats were really Nazis, they would not embrace Homosexuals at all. It is well known that Nazi's exterminated homosexuals in the camps along with Jews, Gypsies and Political Dissidents.
If Democrats were really Nazis, they would not embrace feminism. The Nazis saw women as Breeders and sactified that role, even going so far as to pay women and reward women who had babies, especially if they were of the right kind of breeding
Nazis used threats of violence and surveillance to silence their political rivals. Who is trying to beat whom up at these Town Hall Meetings?
Nazi's lied to their own military, during the course of the war, claiming victories that were never achieved, and imagine the surprise on their own soldiers faces when these POWs arrived in America, and the Statue of Liberty was still standing, trains were running and no burned out towns or cities bombed to the stone age by Nazi pilots. Bush lied to get us into war. Lied to keep us there. What else did that regime lie about?
Nazi's created a reporting system where children could tell on their parents. Bush tried to create a system where cable installers, mailmen and other delivery type people could report on suspicious activity in private residences.
I don't feel bad at all using that discussion to describe what I see taking a foothold on American Soil. I don't see it as a metaphore either. Quite frankly it scares the shit right out of me. THe Republicons however are using this to scare people who don't understand their own history, much less actual German History or World History. Their fear is generated by imagry that has no context.
Sorry to double post, but I wanted to point out via this post at my blog, http://apocalyptictheocracy.blogspot.com/2009/06/what-tangled-web-we-weave.html
That this mentality that Rachel Maddow is exploring is ongoing, and it stinks from the Head down within the GOP.
Everyday, Threats are uttered over the radio waves, through the television and internet and even typed newsletters that make it clear that Liberals should be silenced by any means necessary, and by the way, then "we *conservatives" say liberals we mean anyone who isn't in lockstep with our goose-step thank you very much.
Hi SEC! Thanks for the link to your blog; I couldn't find it before!
What a terrific piece of work you are! Fantastic! I'm delightfully impressed. And I plan to spend a great deal of time there; you are an excellent writer and a great mind (you have to be, 'cause you agree with me what looks to be 100% of the time! ;-))
I appreciate so much your following my little rantings...
I've been really busy of late with a number of photo blogs, too, so I haven't written as much as I'd like to. Hopefully soon...
Best wishes, and thanks again. Your comments are always right on and inspiring!
Well we don't always have to be in agreement. We just have to be thoughtful of what others have to say. I am not afraid to consider what other people think. Even people like Flush. I am also not afraid to make my observations.
Part of what makes this country great, and what could make it great again, is the diversity of thought. Our current level of ideological unrest is the unfortunate product of Supremacist Ideologies, people who believe that due to their religion, and their gender and race, that they were born entitled to things the rest of us were not. Freedom, Prosperity, a voice.
