My vote was not influenced by his money!

From today's newspaper:

"Darryl Rouson, a Taxation and Budget Reform Commission member expected to win a state House election next month, said last week that donations from pro-voucher groups did not affect his vote on a plan asking voters to remove the bar on using taxpayer money for religious-based schools and groups."

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

The leading voucher activist in the state of Florida, John Kirtley, "paid for mailings to help Rouson win Tuesday's primary election..."

"Rouson said Kirtley's group did support his campaign but that they never discussed Wednesday's commission vote."

You have to wonder how stupid these people think we are. You don't need to have a discussion in a smoke-filled back room to influence a vote. How disingenuous is it for Rouson to say that he knew of Kirtley's support but because they never talked about the voucher vote, he was not influenced to vote Kirtley's way?

Just before the commission voted on the issue, Rouson was approached by Ron Meyer, a lawyer representing the teacher's union, who begged Rouson to vote against the bill.

"'I just can't do it,' Rouson said, as he walked away from Meyer."

And he wasn't influenced by Kirtley's support at all. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

(Note: This happened in Florida. It is presented here because you can bet your bippy the same thing is happening in most every state in the Union.)
