Stop the insanitea

This is just wonderful. Mr. Dan Gross of Newsweek clearly delineates the insanity of the tea-baggers who do not have a clue as to what they are doing, or why.

The notion of holding "tea parties" where participants toss tea into a river or lake to protest governmental taxation is ludicrous, indicating ignorance of American history. The original so-called Boston Tea Party, which these tea parties claim to emulate, was a protest against taxation without representation. The Bostonians didn't want to pay taxes to King George because they believed they were not represented in Parliament.

Today's tea-baggers, on the other hand, are well-represented in the hallowed halls of government.

Furthermore, while today's tea-baggers complain about the "bail-outs," they show their ignorance of the fact that all of the various "bail-outs" originated with the Bush administration. They can't really complain about higher taxes, either, for unless they make over $250K per year, Obama's going to give them a tax cut.

So what's up?

Personally, I believe that however this crap got started, this insani-tea - which is being heavily promoted by FAUX News - is part and parcel of a conservative wingnut plan to distract the Obama administration from its agenda; it is an attempt to throw a wrench into the workings of the government.

But because it is counter-productive and finally self-destructive, it becomes the equivalent of a bunch of little pissant kids throwing pebbles at the wall of an ice cream store because daddy won't buy them an ice cream cone, not realizing daddy has put a half-gallon of ice cream for them in the freezer at home.

Glenn Beck, Chuck Norris and Armed Rebellion

Glenn Beck and Chuck Norris. Two freaking misguided nutjobs, crazy as hell, and even perhaps a bit dangerous.

Meg White has an article at BuzzFlash which pokes fun at the old, washed up, B-grade movie actor, Chuck Norris, who plans to run for the "presidency of Texas." Heh. Heh.

But, it ain't all fun and games. These two fruitcakes have some serious mental issues and because of that, they could become dangerous.

Lovers of Jesus as they both are, and fascists to boot, it isn't surprising that they would come up with the notion of an armed insurrection in our country to get rid of all those they deem the "bad" guys; you know, liburals and socialists and commies and such.

I think the only idiot on TV that would invite Norris to talk about anything is Glenn Beck. And Beck did just that last week.

Meg says "Norris described the exchange on his post-interview column [3] at -- where else -- World Net Daily:

"[Beck said] 'If this country starts to spiral out of control... Americans won't stand for it. There will be parts of the country that will rise up.' Then Glenn asked me and his listening audience, 'And where's that going to come from?' He answered his own question, 'Texas, it's going to come from Texas. Do you agree with that Chuck?' I replied, 'Oh yeah! Definitely."

There's more. Norris is busy putting together cell groups "united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation."

It's all so sad. Beck and Norris are just plain sick. Ms. White goes into much more detail in her article. For example, she describes how Norris wants to go to Washington and have General Petraeus find out who's "guilty," and "dishonest" and then Norris says "I will take care of it for him. Took him out. I'll choke them out, the ones that he finds dishonest, I will choke them out and stick them into a pile."

Yup. Shows exactly how much he loves Jesus and the rule of law and the Constitution.

It's witchcraft!

Bewitched in Oklahoma

Sometimes it's difficult to know which century we are living in. Crazed fanatics look forward to the reappearance of their skygod who, they believe, will whoosh them up into the sky to a heavenly kingdom among the stars. Others strive to bring about WWIII, which they describe as a biblical Armageddon designed to end the world as we know it resulting in a rearrangement of power so their illusory god will rule according to the laws laid down in what they call the Old Testament.

In the great State of Oklahoma, land of the flat-earth, global-warming denying senators, a school district suspended a student accused of witchcraft. Yup, good old witchcraft, just like Sinatra sang about; well, more or less.

It seems that back in 1999, Brandi Blackbear, 15, put a hex on a teacher who then proceeded to become ill. Blackbear was a member of the Wicca religion, which, as everyone knows, has tremendous power to cast spells that can make people sick!

Blackbear was, from all accounts, a good student with no discipline problems and a perfect attendance record. Nevertheless, suspicious school officials searched her book bag, in which they found "dastardly" writings, and suspended her for 19 days.

Yesterday, the Oklahoma ACLU filed a federal lawsuit against the school district, two principals and two counselors.

Let's see if these school officials, who preyed on this supposed "witch," can pray their way out of this one. Maybe they can ask Brandi to put a hex on the ACLU?

Witchcraft, indeed!

Texe Marrs - wingnut extraordinaire

Insanity appears in many different forms. One form can be found at Power of Prophecy, a ministry of the notorious anti-Semite christianist, Texe Marrs.

Every once in awhile it is kinda fun to take a break from the rigors of reality and step into a world of delusion. When you come out of such a world, reality doesn't look quite so desperate.

So, take a deep breath and point your browser here. Power of Prophecy is "an end-times ministry called by God to exalt Jesus Christ and to expose darkness in these last days." On the ministry's website you can:

1. Buy the following video documentaries by Texe Marrs:

* "Baal's Shaft & Cleopatra's Needle - Phallic Architecture and Sex Monuments of the Illuminati,"

* "Where the Rich & Famous Dwell - Architectural Secrets of the Rothschilds, the Vanderbilts, the Rockefellers, the Astors, and Other Storied Bloodlines and Dynasties,"

* "Architectural Colossus - Mysterious Monuments of the Illuminati Enshroud the World With Magic and Seduction."

2. Buy Marr's "amazing new book, "Mysterious Monuments."

3. Learn about Marr's shortwave radio broadcast in which he discusses: "Rabbis Over the Vatican--Pope Benedict XVI Cedes Keys of Kingdom to Zionist Interlopers, Leaving One Billion Catholics Swallowed Up in a Thick Cloud of Jewish Deceit."

4. Buy Texes' book, "Codex Magica," a "masterpiece.

And much more.

You may want to take a shower when you finish.

Christianist says election is not over

Despair is often the crucible wherein hope is born. Christianists, led by one Janet Folger of a far-right group called Faith2Action, are clinging to what they believe is a ray of hope, an exit from the darkness of the rubble that tumbled over them with the election of Barack Obama.

That ray of hope takes shape in their befuddled minds with the chance, the possibility, that Barack Obama is not what he claims to be - a citizen of the United States. Aha! If only! His election would be invalid.

Thus Folger, scratching and clawing her way up through the murk, says "There are critical issues that need to be resolved before the Electoral College makes the election official in mid-December. Faith2Action has placed a full page ad in next Monday's issue of The Washington Times National Weekly ..."

Actually, Folger is concerned about one issue, Obama's "real" citizenship. So the ad asks if the President-elect was born in Kenya; or "Is he really a citizen of Indonesia? ...

"...a growing number of American citizens are demanding answers to these critical questions," says she. "...It's our hope that the American people will rise up and call for Congressional hearings and immediate court action to avoid a Constitutional crisis."

This is all nonsense, of course. The matter of Barack Obama's birth was settled long ago.

But this mini-crusade on the part of a few extremist Christianists devoted to nonsensical conspiracy theories is a depressing reminder of how insanity dressed in robes of faux righteousness is still pervasive among a segment of our population.

Faith2Action can be accessed here, if you can stand the stink.
