Palin is in hot water again.

Seems she left Alaska to go speak at some wingnut anti-abortion conference in the Lower 48. Alaska's legislators were not happy because she took off during the last week of the legislative session, which is always the busiest session of the year.

It should be noted, this was a personal decision on her part, totally unnecessary (unless, of course, she's trying to build her base for 2012).


The second thing she did had to do with her nominating skills. After her previous nominations for attorney general of Alaska were turned down by the Democrats, she nominated three people for one position! Yup. Maybe she can't count very well. Or maybe she governs by the theory that if she throws enough crap at a wall, some of it might stick.

But, this story gets even more interesting when we find out (via the Anchorage Daily News) that two of the three have already been rejected by the Dems, which leaves the third, who switched to the Democratic Party just a few months ago.


Finally, Ms. Palin the prevaricator, in a 10-minute testimony during U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar's hearing on offshore oil and gas leasing, beat the same old drum: Drill, baby, drill. According to ADN, she "told Salazar that the future of the trans-Alaska oil pipeline and the success of a proposed natural gas pipeline are at stake if offshore development doesn't occur."

Of course it is. My goodness, the world will collapse if we don't drill off the coast of Alaska.


Unless, you're very rich, or will get very rich from offshore drilling, you probably would agree with Edward Itta, mayor of the North Slope Borough, when he noted his people do not want offshore drilling because it's too risky, and the "rewards" aren't worth the risk. "That's because spill response are (is) virtually impossible in Arctic waters."


What the hell. Who cares about Alaska, the environment, Eskimo's, polar bears and other wildlife, anyway?

The winds of change - in Alaska

It is said that the winds in Alaska blow hard.

Oops! Maybe I should have said it is said the blowhards in Alaska are windy, and sneaky.


To better understand this story, let's say that you are a longtime Repugnican and profess to follow Repugnican beliefs, such as they are, and let's say that because of your position as a legislative aide you got WIND that a state Senate seat was soon to be vacated BUT, according to Alaska state law, only a Democrat could fill the seat.

What would you do?

Well, you'd do the Repugnican thing, naturally. You'd switch to the Democratic Party because you also knew that the governor of Alaska, Prevaricator Palin, would appoint you to that seat if'n you were a Democratic type person.

Now...you probably, being a Repugnican and all, figured that you could switch back to the Repugnican Party at some time in the future when the other Democrats in the state house couldn't do nuttin about it.


Sounds good. And Guv. Prevaricator Palin did it; she appointed legislative aide, newly-minted Democrat, Tim Grussendorf, to the state Senate. Yes, she did!


Except...the Democrats in the state Senate are not totally stupid. So, they're putting in motion an attempt to set-up a knock-down, so that when newly-minted Democrat Grussendorf comes up for a vote, he gets voted down.

Palin leading theocratic Repugnican pack for 2012

Alex Koppelman at Salon (Feb. 27) tells of "a new poll handicapping the race for the 2012 Republican presidential race, and the results are fairly unsurprising. Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin leads the pack -- but just barely."

Out of those who responded to the poll, 29% said they favored Palin; 26% percent liked Mike Huckabee; and 21% would give their vote to Mitt Romney. Way down at 4.5% was Bobby Jindal.


If it tells us anything, this poll says that the Republican Party has fallen into a theocratic pit from which it may never be able to crawl out.

Palin and Huckabee are confessing theocrats, both having been "born again," and both claiming a "personal relationship with Jesus Christ," and both very clear about the need to incorporate their right-wing religious values into government policy and procedure.

Romney, being a Mormon, is just as bad, and if there is anything we do not need in this country is a ultra-conservative, born and bred Mormon in the White House.


Unfortunately, we have come to a place in this country where one's religion, while not a test or office, must be taken into consideration, because the religious fruitcake Christians/Mormons, etc., on the right have every intention of corrupting the government with their peculiar and debilitating claims to righteousness!

Bush did enough damage and it will take years to recover from his Christian chicanery. But these three - Palin, Huckabee and Romney, are worse. Bush played at being religious. These morons are serious.


That's what we have to look forward to in less than four years!

The Palin Planned Parenthood party

Actually, Palin didn't plan this party for Planned Parenthood, but it worked out well for the organization, which just goes to show God works in mysterious ways.

Someone or some group (not Planned Parenthood) got the idea of donating money to Planned Parenthood "in honor of Sarah Palin." The idea, which took the form of e-mails asking for donations in Palin's name, took off across the Internet and enough people responded to raise over $1 million for PP.

The christianists wingnuts on the right see Planned Parenthood as the devil's workshop because PP is are supportive of a woman's right to choose with regard to abortion.

Palin responded to this fund-raising effort in her name by calling it "political theater."

She did, however, make a comment that is likely to raise the fundy's hackles: "But on the issue of Planned Parenthood and abortion, at least Planned Parenthood, officials there and, I, we agree on a mission here that we'd like to see fewer and fewer abortions. And I, embracing the culture of life, have perhaps a different approach in how I would like to see that goal reached."

Damn, she has a hard time putting two sentences together!

Actually, I was surprised at the mildness of her statement, but it may fit into the theory of some pundits that she's modifying her strident, nasally nasty approach to gain more support for a presidential run in 2012.

Arsonists hit Sarah Palin's home church

It happened yesterday evening. Unknown miscreants started a fire at the entrance of the Wasilla Bible Church, which then spread inward. It appears five women and possibly two children in the church were alerted by a fire alarm and escaped unharmed.

Damage is being estimated at $1 million.

An investigation is underway by a "multi-agency task force," but as yet no motive has been uncovered. When pastor Larry Koon was asked whether the church had received any threats recently, he avoided the question. "There are so many variables," he said, "I don't want to comment in that direction."

Governor Palin made a statement in which she apologized ahead of time if it turned out the fire was in any way a response to "undeserved negative attention" from her vice presidential campaign.

While we don't want to make light of this act of domestic terror, assuming it was arson, we would chide the governor for that cheesy remark. Any negative attention she received, she deserved in spades!


Palin's office also commented that "Whatever the motives of the arsonist, the governor has faith in the scriptural passage that what was intended for evil will in some way be used for good."

We'll have to wait and see if the governor's faith is to be rewarded or if it is misdirected.
