It was a disastrous policy and still is. Politics used to be the art of compromise. Now it is a game between two teams. Cantor, the Republican whip is a student of Newt’s now and claims to speak with him regularly regarding tactics for his team in the coming years of the Obama administration. I think it disgusting when members are forced to abandon their consciences in order for the team to win. We citizens are not involved in the game, except as bystanders, apparently. If a member of Congress is not able to think for himself, then we are indeed in trouble. I am not a fan of Governor Crist but admire his courage in doing what he thinks is best for his constituents regardless of team discipline.<BR/><BR/>I am sure many Republicans are opposed for good reasons, but it should never be because their leader dictates what they should do.
