Like if they feed the homeless or something, they can take that cost off their taxes. Otherwise, these mega churches that have malls and shit in them, tax the hell out of them. That's not religion, that's retail.A World Quite Madhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18173346413223847865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-558253513796745662.post-3071223533948729432011-05-22T19:47:04.699-04:002011-05-22T19:47:04.699-04:00I have no doubt Kentucky will be sued abou this. ...I have no doubt Kentucky will be sued abou this. Over and over suits have stopped posting of religious documents. This doesn't stop them from trying though. I thing the tax exempt status should be taken away from religious organizations. OK, don't pay real estate taxes on the actual church building but all the real estate owned by the church; apartment buildings, athltic buildings, etc., should be taxed.Charlenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17167633465853736197noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-558253513796745662.post-20526177145750391972011-05-21T17:20:05.128-04:002011-05-21T17:20:05.128-04:00Well, as for the flood that does have some basis i...Well, as for the flood that does have some basis in reality, but not on a global scale obviously. There's evidence that there was an earthquake and one hell of a flood in the region around the Black Sea. The Sumerians wrote it down and the ancient Isrealites cribbed it off of them. But shhhhh! The fundies don't believe that. Jesus wrote the Bible himself after all (a girl I once worked with told me so).

The Civil War wasn't *just* about slavery, and there were ways that it could have been avoided altogether. When you realize that a single slave cost as much in today's dollar as a Mercedes Benz... well, you can see why people wanted to fight over it. The north was just as racist as the south, and many up there had no desire to see blacks as equals, nor did they want them living up there either. If the government had wanted to abolish slavery and had a.)offered fair compensation for the slaves and b.)guaranteed price protection on crops, then there may never have been a civil war. It really was a rich man's war and a poor man's fight. I've done a great deal of genealogy on my family, and I have several ancestors who fought for the confederacy. Most of them didn't even own slaves. It goes way beyond "just slavery". But the fundies don't know this, they think it's all a massive conspiracy from the feds or something. *sigh*

As an aside, my favorite personality of the Civil war was Sherman (much to my father's annoyance I think LOL). He's quite a character, and warned the south not to start a war because there was no way they could win.

Why did the animals die? Didn't you ever see Eddie Izzard's skit explaining it? It was an evil giraffe. He ate all the leaves off the trees so that other animals would starve!

The state of Kentucky should be sued for using tax dollars to support such bullshit. It's a free country, if the fundies want to build a theme park, let them solicit donations from their sheeple.

The real problem is, few value education. Public school does not promote critical thinking skills. They simply teach how to take a test. And that's it.A World Quite Madhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18173346413223847865noreply@blogger.com
